ReplyDeleteWow. The Wired magazine story 'The Untold Story of the World's Biggest Diamond Heist' was only published on the web last week and hasn't appeared in print yet (but will in the next few days).
ReplyDeleteJulie, do you know how this process moves so quickly?
I can tell you how the process works. With books, for instance, catalogue descriptions go out to the trade (including all film companies) very early, and afterwards bound galleys. So that producers or writers can option or buy well in advance of publication.
ReplyDeleteSomething similar happens with publications, where tear-sheets (i.e. single copies of pieces) often circulate among people in the trade before we lowly members of the public see them.
Sometimes this happens with whole issues of magazines, so that often you'll see reference to a piece in Vanity Fair, when it's a good two weeks before you'll be seeing your copy in your mailbox or newstand. I would suspect this is the case with Wired.
